LEAGUE U13s & U14s - MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

UD LEAGUE U13s & U14s

February 2024

Regent’s Park Youth League - U13s (London)
With this month having half term, there was just the one game this month, which was a merger between to U13 and U14 players, a match played against an opposition U14. With low numbers and playing up a year, the match was always going to be tough. However, the boys showed resilience and determination throughout, never giving up and continuing to the end. Games like this can be tough but also show strength of character, the boys can all be happy with that and will gain more experience for it.

UD v Arsenal Community
Despite missing a number of players for the first match of the month against Arsenal Community, our U14’s would have undoubtedly been disappointed by their performance, especially as they know that both individually and collectively, we could have been much more competitive. Over the course of the season, the team have shown the sort of performances that they are capable of and the boys will have had to shake this result off and prepare for their semi-final match coming up.

UD v Regents Park
It was a similar story for the second game of the month against Regents Park, with the team short on players and having to play the match with 10, going down to 9 after an injury. The boys did brilliantly to hold on to a first half clean sheet with the score at 0-0. However, as would be expected, tired legs and minds led to an eventual breakthrough for our opponents, who ended up winning the game 3-0.

January 2024

Regent’s Park Youth League - U13s (London)
After the Christmas period, we were so excited to welcome our U13’s back this month for their first games of 2024!
There’s no hiding from the fact that this team have had a difficult season so far, with many experiencing 11 a-side football for the first time and coming up against some very strong opponents.
However, their attitude and resilience has been continually praised by their coaches. They continue to put in the work and turn up each game with a smile on their faces and play with enjoyment.
This month saw the team exit the cup after a 4-2 defeat, having gone toe-to-toe with our opponent. Perhaps on another day it may have been a different outcome but we know that the boys will continue to work hard with each training session and game, looking to develop and improve as the season continues

The first match back proved to be an exciting one; a cup game against GFA: Muswell Hill. After battling it out to a 3-3 draw, with nothing to separate the two sides, it was our UD U13’s that triumphed during the penalty shoot-out to put us through to the next round of the cup.
February sees the return of league games and the U14’s will certainly want to carry the momentum into these matches with the aim of climbing the table. The team currently sit in the middle of the pack but with 1 or 2 games in hand over the teams above, we could see ourselves move up rapidly with the right results.
