WATFORD FRIENDLY LEAGUE

SUNDAYS IN ST ALBANS

The Watford Friendly League (WFL) takes place every Sunday throughout the 2023/24 season and our teams will often play on a bi-weekly basis. The WFL league runs from September through to May and offers players the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in training and transfer that into matches

WFL games are played both ‘home’ and ‘away’ at our home ground of Verulamium Park and various other locations across Hertfordshire and North London.
All league games are ‘non competitive’ and provide a fantastic first league experience for our players!

UD WFL SQUADS

League places for the 23/24 season are open all our members in the below age groups. We have 4 teams competing in the WFL (Sept 23 - Mar 24):

  • U7s

  • U8s

  • U9s

  • U10s

With this being St Albans first season in a league, we are not overly focused on the results of games but are more interested in the personal and team development of our players whilst still maintaining a winning mentality!

The games for these age groups are 'non competitive'.

Games will be held both at our home ground in Verulamium Park as well as away games in Hertfordshire and North London. Travelling times for away games will be between 10-30mins.

UD LEAGUE CODE OF CONDUCT

Our main priority for the upcoming league season is to create an environment that is friendly, approachable, respectful and enjoyable for all players, parents and coaches. It is with this in mind that we have created a code of conduct that all parents must review and submit prior to the start of the new season.

Important: You cannot participate in league games until you have completed the code of conduct. Your child will not be selected for games until this is complete.

 

ST ALBANS LEAGUE TEAM TRAINING

Our UD training will continue to take place on Sunday mornings at our usual training location during the league season, however, on the rare occasion that our league teams have a fixture clash with Sunday training, we will ask for those players to attend our UD Wednesday training session (5-6pm) that week instead as a replacement. All schedules/fixtures for league matches and training will be shared in advance.

HOME AND AWAY GAMES 

All our league players will have between 2-3 games per month. These will be combination of both home and away games. Away games are mostly between local clubs that will require minimum travel time. Our home ground in is Verulamium Park.
