A New Season, A Fresh Start

Welcome 25/26 Football Season!

This term always marks a fresh beginning, a new school year, new classes, sometimes even a new school or a new country. Change can be exciting, but it can also feel a bit daunting.

That’s where football and United Dragons comes in. Football isn’t just about training or matches. It’s about being part of a team, building friendships, and knowing you have a community that will support and cheer you on.

For our new Dragons, welcome! You’re joining a club where you’ll learn, laugh, and grow both as a player and a person. For our returning Dragons, this season is your opportunity to embrace new challenges, set higher goals, and continue your development on and off the pitch.

More Than Just Football

A new season is about more than what happens during games. It’s also about building habits that help you succeed in football, school, and life:

  • Looking after your health: Eat well, stay hydrated, and get enough rest.

  • Staying organised: Be on time for training, keep your kit ready, and balance your schoolwork with football.

  • Taking care of your mindset: Stay positive, welcome challenges, and don’t give up when things get tough.

These habits are just as important as learning to pass, dribble, or score; they make you stronger, more confident, and ready for anything.

Your Challenge: Set Your Goals

This week, we’d like every player to set three goals for the season:

  1. One football goal (a skill or area of your game you want to improve)

  2. One mindset goal (something about your confidence, focus, or attitude)

  3. One wellbeing goal (something to help you stay healthy and ready to play, like eating well, getting more sleep, or staying organised)

Think about your goals and share them with your coach and your family. Clear goals help you stay focused, motivated, and proud of your progress, no matter how big or small each step is.

Whether you’re starting at a new school or stepping onto the pitch for the first or fiftieth time, remember: every new season is a chance to grow, improve, and shine.

So, Dragons, what are YOUR goals this season?
