UD NEWS : Summer Term In Full Flow!
Summer Term In Full Flow!
May kicked off the Summer Term in style, with sunshine, great energy and loads of football across all our venues.
Training has continued to follow the United Dragons syllabus, supporting player development across the 4 FA corners: technical, physical, psychological and social.
What changes in the Summer Term?
The key difference in the Summer Term compared to previous terms is that our syllabus switches to game-based sessions. That means everything the players have learned throughout the season now gets put into practice through match-realistic scenarios. Players will be challenged to apply their skills and understanding in situations that look and feel like a real football match.
Why do we do it this way?
For us, the final term of the season is the perfect time to bring training as close to the match as possible. Game-based sessions help players:
Transfer skills into real game moments - not just drills, but decisions under pressure
Improve game understanding - when to pass, dribble, press, support and create space
Build confidence - by solving problems and succeeding in realistic situations
Have lots of fun - competitive, engaging sessions that keep players excited to train
Looking ahead to June – Summer Term and May have not stopped there. In June, the development continues with even more game scenarios to challenge our players, and even more fun for everyone.
Futsal Focus: Fast Feet, Fresh Confidence
Futsal has been impressive all year round and May was another fantastic month for development, energy and effort.
Futsal Foundation - big progress
Our Futsal Foundation group continues to impress with how quickly they are developing. With a huge focus on the Technical corner, players have shown strong improvement throughout the season, and May felt like another milestone in their journey.
This month, players were put under real game pressure through a range of scenarios, including:
Overloads (2v1, 3v2)
Underloads (1v2, 2v3)
These situations help players experience match-realistic moments that can happen in futsal and football. Alongside technical development, they also support the Psychological corner, pushing players to make quicker decisions, stay calm under pressure, and find solutions as a team.
Futsal Development - higher intensity, more tactical detail
Our Futsal Development group followed the same concept, but naturally with higher intensity and more specific challenges. Because these players are slightly older and have more futsal experience, we can tailor sessions around more detailed futsal situations, with a stronger focus on the tactical side of the game. The aim is to put players into scenarios where they must read the picture, make decisions, and work out solutions in real time.
Why Futsal Matters!?
Futsal continues to thrive and proves, week after week, that it is one of the best tools for developing confident, intelligent footballers.
If you have not tried it yet, why not give it a go? – To get started, email denerson@uniteddragonsfc.com and we will see you at the next session.
Small-Sided, Big Impact
May was a brilliant month for our Small-Sided Technical Training, with great progress across the group. The players have trained with real focus and energy, and it has been excellent to see so many small improvements stacking up week to week.
Why small-sided makes a big difference
One of the biggest benefits of this programme is the 6 players to 1 coach ratio. Keeping groups small means every player gets more time on the ball, more repetitions, and more support.
It also allows coaches to give lots of individual feedback during the session, helping players understand:
What they are doing well
What needs adjusting
How to apply the coaching point straight away
That personal feedback is a huge part of why players develop quickly in this environment.

Technical focus, with development across all 4 FA corners
A key part of May has been using 3v3 within sessions, giving players the chance to practise their technical skills in realistic, game-based scenarios.
3v3 has loads of benefits for player development, including:
More touches and more 1v1 moments
More decisions in tight spaces
More chances to attack and defend
More opportunities to create, combine and finish
It is fast, competitive, and fun, and it helps players transfer their training into real match moments.

Summer Football is Flying: Pre Season League Update
The summer heat is officially here, but things are only just heating up on the pitch for United Dragons! Since the league season wrapped up back in April, our players have barely had time to get mud off their boots. Instead of taking a quiet break, we have been fully immersed in our pre season summer league programme, ensuring the energy remains high and the football continues flowing right through the off season.
Over the last few weeks, our teams from U6 all the way up to U15 have been putting in some serious work. Training sessions have been fast paced, sharp, and intense. Coaches are really pushing the players to improve their fitness levels, quicken their decision making, and refine those essential technical skills on the ball. To match that training ground intensity, we have scheduled a packed calendar of friendly matches against local opposition. These fixtures are proving to be the perfect opportunity for our squads to try out new formations, build on their team chemistry, and, most importantly, keep their competitive edge sharp before the new league structure begins.
A massive congratulations is in order for our U8 Girls, who absolutely shone recently by winning a local summer tournament! They played with incredible confidence, registered some fantastic goals, and showed great teamwork throughout the day. It is a brilliant reminder of the talent we have growing at the younger end of the club and a great sign for the future of our girls section.
The best part is that we are nowhere near done yet. We have plenty more exciting fixtures, tournament invitations, and intense training sessions lined up all the way until the schools break up for the summer holidays in mid July. It is the perfect way for the players to stay active, socialise, and keep
developing their game during the warmer months.

Thank You, Kodi - A Proper UD Legend
A message from Kodi:
After five years representing and working with United Dragons FC, I will be moving on to a new opportunity. I want to thank all the players, parents and coaching staff for your support over the years. Stepping into the managerial role will be Coach Ships, a familiar face who has worked closely with me, particularly since my move to Northern Ireland. Ships brings strong grassroots experience and will be joining us after finishing his current role at Luton Town FC.
St Albans - 26/27 League Registration Now Live!
We are so excited to announce that we have been awarded our Watford Friendly Youth League teams for the upcoming season!
As an existing United Dragons player, your child has priority access to secure their league place. We cannot wait to get back out on the pitch and competing again come September.
Priority Deadline and Squad Availability
Because your child is a returning United Dragons player, we are giving you early access to re-register. However, please be aware that we currently have a waiting list of new players eager to join the club for the upcoming season.
To ensure we maintain proper squad sizes and fair playing time, we must enforce a strict cutoff for our current families.
If you do not register by 17th June, your child's priority status will lapse, and their spot will automatically be offered to a player on our waiting list. We cannot guarantee placement in a team once these spots are opened up to others.

UD WOMEN - KICKING OFF PRE-SEASON IN STYLE!
United Dragons Women kicked off the off-season in style with the club’s official Mallorca Tour. A squad of 20 players travelled to Santa Ponsa, Palma de Mallorca, representing the club superbly throughout the weekend with great energy and professionalism. The tour was a brilliant experience on and off the pitch, with strong team bonding and plenty of memorable moments shared along the way.
Competing in a predominantly futsal-style tournament, the squad performed exceptionally well and finished 4th overall, an achievement the group can be proud of. The trip also provided a great opportunity to connect with teams and players from across Europe while celebrating the end of another successful season together.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for our End of Season Awards, where we’ll recognise the achievements and contributions of our players throughout the year. Preparations are also underway for pre-season, which begins next month as we build towards another exciting campaign.
As the women’s section continues to grow, we’re also creating new opportunities for players. If you’re a mum who used to play, or you’ve been thinking about getting back into football, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to join the United Dragons family through our newly launched development programme.
