SMALL SIDED TECHNICAL TRAINING - MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS
Summer Term Wrap Up
As we head into July and approach the end of our Summer Term, it’s a great time to reflect on the progress made through our Small-Sided Technical Training Programme and shine a spotlight on some of the standout moments from June!
The month kicked off with rising temperatures – and so did the intensity of our sessions. Tailored to individual development, our Small-Sided Programme continues to provide a focused environment where players receive specific technical guidance and 1:1 feedback from our coaching team.
Throughout June, we’ve gone all-in to ensure our players make real strides across all four areas of the FA Four Corner Model: Technical, Physical, Psychological, and Social. Sessions have been intentionally designed to challenge players with real-game scenarios while allowing coaches to adapt drills to each individual’s needs. With a 6:1 player-to-coach ratio, our staff have been able to tailor activities that target individual growth while still promoting small group dynamics.
A key focus this month has been building psychological resilience and improving decision-making under pressure. By using 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 game-based situations, players are not only sharpening their technical abilities but also learning how to solve problems on the pitch quickly and creatively. These formats also help improve players' understanding of positioning, timing, and space awareness in a controlled but competitive setting.
Equally important has been the social development of our players. Whether through team-based challenges, communication drills, or cooperative problem-solving activities, June has seen a real uplift in how players interact, support one another, and work together as a team. This holistic approach is what makes this programme so valuable and impactful for our young athletes. We’re incredibly proud of all our UD players who continue to show up, work hard, and push their limits, despite the summer heat! Their commitment is a reflection of the passion and spirit that makes our UD community so special.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about what the future holds for this programme and our next generation of talent. We’re committed to providing a year-round environment that promotes individual development in a fun, challenging, and supportive setting.
