2021/2022 LEAGUE OVERVIEW

As the season finally comes to a close, I can’t help but feel an immense sense of pride, satisfaction and delight for all of our United Dragons teams.

After the disruption to last years league campaign, I was just happy that we didn’t face any further cancellations and we safely made it through an entire season with no disruptions.

When looking back at this season, each and every team has represented UD with the perfect blend of competitiveness, sportsmanship, togetherness & friendship. These attributes I believe, set us apart from other clubs in the league.

The month of March was always going to be a busy one, with league games, cup competitions and trying to cram all of this in 4 weekends. As a club, we had an unprecedented 6 teams reach the cup finals, which is a truly outstanding achievement!

The U13 boys and girls unfortunately just missed out on winning the cup but we are so proud of them and their cup run!

The U8 white team cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win in the final and celebrated jubilantly with Coach Denerson at full time. Meanwhile, the U9 girls red team dominated their final to stroll to a 6-0 win. The chant, “Championes” could be heard a mile away as the girls and Director Chris were dancing up and down whilst raising the trophy skywards!

The U10 red team claimed a nerve wracking cup final win in penalties against a very strong team. The boys showed true courage to step up and convert their penalties. Director Daryl and Ryan celebrated wildly with the parents whilst the kids bundled on top of match winner Tremayne. Lastly, our U11 white team won their final in penalties, with Ambroise calming stepping up, arching his run up to cooly smash the ball in to the roof of the net to spark scenes of an epic proportion amongst fans, parents, coaches and kids!

Huge well done to all of our cup winners!!!

It would be remiss of me to not mention all of our teams. The U7’s have shown incredible development during a year of learning and understanding new tactical elements of football. Our U9’s have been awesome all year, whilst our U12’s battled valiantly in the toughest division in the league!

Our U9 girls white team, playing their first ever season in the league showed amazing team work and managed go get a 70% win ratio, whilst the U11 girls reached the semi final and narrowly missed out a chance to play in the final.

Special mention must go to our oldest teams. U13 boys won the league by over 6 points and played spectacular football all season. The U13 girls have shown the most improvement of any team this season - going unbeaten from November to March!

Well done to everyone and a massive thank you to all parents who continue to support the boys and girls.
